How do I show my rabbits? There is a lot of mystery to new rabbit showing enthusiasts as to the process of showing. On this site you will be able to see what to take, what to expect, and the how-tos. Note that most shows are "late entry" shows in our area, meaning that you just show up and register that morning. Don't show up at the time the show starts, show up in time to navigate the registration process. Forms are provided by the show secretary. For the few "early entry" shows in our area, consult the show catalog for the date your entry must be sent. "Coup shows" are also rare here, but the annual TRBA State Show is both an early entry and coup show. How do I get my rabbits tattooed? Generally, there is someone available at the show such as a registrar who will tattoo your rabbit for a small fee. The day of the show is not the optimal time to do this as it can be messy and stresses the rabbit a bit. There are two types of tattoo methods: pin crimpers and pens. The pens seem to hurt rabbits a little less and are less messy the day of a show. If you plan to show regularly, invest in a tattoo kit and learn the ropes yourself. Practice on a banana until you get proficient. It also helps to wrap bunny in a towel like a burrito with the left ear and nose (for breathing) sticking out. The biggest challenge is getting the rabbit to be still enough to complete the task. Funny thing, bananas don't seem to wiggle!
